This page is dedicated to my current and upcoming writing projects.

Godnet is a techno-thriller that takes place in 2057. I completed the novel in October, and am currently in the process of editing the manuscript.

The story

Godnet is about a scientist named Mark Nelson who awakens 42 years after being in a suspended state of animation in a NASA stasis pod. He learns the Mindnet, the next-generation version of the Internet he pioneered, is now dominated by a sentient program that has assumed the persona of God. The world is convinced this God is real, and the all-powerful Church will stop at nothing to preserve it. Nelson is dismayed by what his invention has become, and swears to help resistance fighters destroy the system, even if it means plunging society into chaos.

Godnet takes the reader on a fast-paced journey across the divide of religion and science. It leaves us with one of most difficult philosophical questions: Would we better off hearing the voice of God, even it wasn't real?

About the project

The novel is a single-length work of fiction, preceded by my short story "Apostate," which takes place 20 years before the start of the story.

Current status

As of the beginning of the year, I have edited fifty-four chapters. There are eighty-six chapters total. My goal is to get a publishing contract by fall.

Also in the works

Next on the drawing board is a novella I plan on releasing as a free supplement to Godnet, called Godnet: Confessions. It is written from the perspective of Peter Ericson, a scientist on assignment at a research facility in the Arctic Circle. Ericson has embarked on a controversial investigation: to determine if the God Conscious pervading the Mindnet is in fact God, or a sentient form of artificial intelligence. Ericson has amassed a collection of interviews, confessions and personal accounts, as evidence. Each of these vignettes forms a chapter within the novella, annotated by Mr. Ericson. In the end, it is up to the reader to decide whether the God Conscious is real or an imposter.

I am excited about Godnet: Confessions. It will allow me to enrich the Godnet world for my readers, as well as give them a taste of the novel prior to its release. Once I complete the novella, I plan on working on the next installment in the Godnet franchise, a prequel code-named Morning Star.
